There can be something escapist about meditation with the goal of reaching enlightenment
Enlightenment is the spiritual equivalent of fusion. It would solve everything but it’s always 30 years away.
Instead, we should be all in on this life, this cosmos, not looking for something else.
Could be part of why Buddhism seems to be somehow incomplete
I suspect that enlightenment has become widely misunderstood, and that the original meaning was something far more attainable and proximal.
enlightenment isn’t the endpoint; it’s the beginning of fully living
